Sowing Global Markets with Alibaba

Alibaba connects U.S. farmers directly with Chinese consumers who can’t get enough of American-grown fresh food products. This was the case for Domex Superfresh Growers, which grows flavorful, high-quality apples, pears, cherries, apricots, blueberries, and kiwi berries in Yakima, Washington. Despite selling fresh fruit from its orchards in the Pacific Northwest to consumers in China for more than a decade, Domex Superfresh Growers partnered with Alibaba once they were introduced to the company’s innovative Freshippo ecommerce platform.

“Freshippo stores are amazing, loaded with technology, focused on premium products, and specializing in fresh offerings,” said Jeff Webb, Superfresh Growers’ director of international business development. Chinese customers are passionate about premier products like Northwest U.S. cherries, apples, and blueberries.”

For the past few years, Domex Superfresh’s cherries have been flying off the shelves of Alibaba’s Freshippo supermarkets in China. “Partners like Freshippo and Alibaba serve customers in all channels, including ecommerce, B2B and retail stores,” said Webb.

“We definitely expect to grow our business with China, especially for our main product lines. Alibaba gives us access to millions of people. We are optimistic that our partnership will expand tremendously over the years.”

From our farms to the world’s tables, Alibaba helps us grow.
